Adult Recognition
We value ALL of our volunteers and recognize the contributions they make in developing girl leaders. Everyone appreciates a special thank you for their volunteer efforts. We recognize that there are individuals who provide service to Girl Scouting that is “above and beyond” the expectations of their volunteer position.
Girl Scouts of the USA and Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York have a formal process for honoring Girl Scout adult members and service teams for their exemplary and outstanding service.
Each year, National Recognition Awards are presented in the spring and may be awarded at the Service Unit level, at a local level, and some may be presented at larger Appreciation Events.

Summer Camp Employment
Summer Camp is a Magical Place to Work!
If you are a college student majoring in education, outdoor leadership or adventure, or if you are a professional in those fields, please consider being a part of a wonderful summer experience! Make a difference in the life of a girl and become a summer camp counselor. You will help girls ages 5 – 17 to develop their full potential while they learn to work with and respect others, make decisions, and contribute to the camp community. We have a variety of unique opportunities for girls and counselors alike to experience friendship, fun, and exciting outdoor adventures.
Camp Staff members are trained in the following areas: child development, communication, conflict resolution, risk management and safety, leadership, and program development. We focus on the Girl Scout Leadership Development Model and incorporate that into training.
We are looking specifically for staff members who are already trained in Red Cross CPR/RTE, Lifeguard, Boating Safety, and Water Safety Instruction. We will provide some of that training on a limited basis if necessary. We are always interested in specialists with experience in backpacking/hiking, boating (canoe, kayak, sail), ropes courses, horse-riding, fine arts, and leadership development.
