Financial Assistance
Because every girl’s experience is customized for that girl’s interest there is not a standard cost to participate in Girl Scouts. Every girl can decide to go to camp or to participate in the myriad of council wide programs. Her cost will reflect those individualized choices and will be different than the other girls in her group or troop based on her choices.
The product sales program, in which more than 3 million girls learn entrepreneurial skills, is one of the ways that girls fund and achieve their customized goals. GSNENY supports the girls’ efforts through two council wide programs: QSP Be a Reader in the fall and Cookies in the winter. Every girl can participate in the programs regardless of whether her group or troop decides to. For more information, please contact productsales@gsneny.org.
If a girl still cannot afford the national membership fee, program fees for any of the Pathway programs including Camp, or the Travel Pathway fees after participating in the Product Sales program, then they may apply for financial assistance.

A committee of dedicated volunteers meets monthly to review the requests for funds. They weigh multiple factors like the cost of the program, the family’s need and other extenuating financial commitments but the primary factor in the decision is why the girl wants to attend the program and what she is hoping to get from it. Some funds are drawn down on a first come, first served basis so it is always in the girls’ best interest to submit the application as soon as possible.
