Middle School Tweens

Now that your elementary school days are behind you there are so many choices available to you. And with GS you have even more. Actually, you have more choices that aren’t available to other girls unless they belong to GS.

Have you ever dreamed of being an astronaut? How about a fashion designer or marine biologist? All things are possible for GS and doors open up into whole new worlds. The best part is that you get to decide which worlds to explore and how many of them to explore and how far in depth you want to explore them. Try something and don’t like it? No problem…at least you know now that it isn’t something you want to pursue and there are still tons of options that you haven’t tried yet.

Are you 11 years old or older? Turning 11 by the summer? Every year, Girl Scouts of the USA brings together girls from across the nation to share in opportunities called Destinations. Destination travel adventures range from two days to three weeks and are all in a small group setting. They are the most awesome, outrageous; unforgettable trips of your life and …….are only for older GS. The older you get the more incredible the trips are and the more choices you have. Imagine the places you can go in GS by the time you get to high school. Even more exotic places once you get into high school.

There’s a Destination category for International travel (like our world centers in Mexico, India, London and Switzerland), one for Outdoors (like exploring Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula by kayak or Hawaii’s Volcanoes National Park) one for Science (like the US Space & Rocket Center), one for People (like Washington D.C. working on advocacy issues for women) and one for Apprenticeships (like working alongside marine biologists or assisting at a camp for girls with disabilities)

Don’t worry, if you prefer the troop style of GS, you can still participate in your local troop AND register for individual programs that interest you. We’ve just added even more options if you don’t have the time for weekly or bi-weekly troop meetings.
