Event date: Thursday, September 26, 2013

Women of Distinction is a nationwide Girl Scouts of the USA program that recognizes the achievement of women. As Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York educates girls to be future community leaders, we want to recognize the community leaders of today.

Since 1985 Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York has been hosting Women of Distinction events in different areas of the council from Albany to Plattsburgh. Our council covers 16 counties and serves almost 12,000 girls. Categories in which women are nominated for include: Distinguished Leader of Tomorrow, Distinguished Trailblazer, Distinguished Community Leader and Distinguished Personal Achievement.

Honorees are awarded for their strength of character, dedicated community service, emphasis on life-long learning, along with their dedication to fostering self-confidence and leadership skills in others. These events are one of many ways we keep Girl Scouting alive and vibrant in our communities. Many women who are leaders in their fields credit Girl Scouting with helping them build the set of skills that paved their road to success.
