Check out this story from TWC News about some of our girls during Girl Scouts Give Back Week!
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Cookie season is over, and now girl scouts across the area are pitching in to help their communities.
This week, scouts and volunteers will be taking part in “Girl Scouts Give Back”.
Girls from the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York are participating in a variety of volunteering services in their communities. Some helped out here at the Habitat for Humanity in Schenectady.
Leaders said not only are the girls giving back, but they are also taking some knowledge home with them.
“We have volunteers working with them in each activity, explaining what they’re doing and how that can impact other families in our city,” said Karen McLane, Volunteer Coordinator, Habitat for Humanity. “So they’re learning a lot about what they can do at their age level to still help Habitat’s mission, even though they’re a lot younger than our normal volunteers are.”
This week is also Habitat for Humanity’s National Women Build Week.
