The Alfred Z. Solomon Charitable Trust has approved a $14,540 grant for the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York (GSNENY) to install lightning rods on 10 cabins or structures at Lake Clear Camp, one of two resident camps owned and operated by GSNENY. This project supports the Girl Scouts’ commitment to providing safe spaces for girls to learn and grow, and ensures that cabins, program spaces and equipment are protected from lightning strikes.
This summer, Lake Clear Camp will host hundreds of girls in kindergarten through 12th grade. A variety of programs will be offered such as: an outdoor cooking program and great hiking programs, Happy Trails and Northern Trackers. Water lovers can spend a lot of time on the waterfront participating in Ladies-of-the-Lake, and SCUBA programs. Older girls can complete the Counselor-in-Training, a course for girls to gain hands-on skills planning and leading programs for younger girls.
Girls do not need prior Girl Scout experience to attend programs at Lake Clear.
