During the month of July, three GSNENY Seniors and Ambassadors participated in GSUSA Destinations, national programs for Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors that are interested in meeting new friends from across the country, having new experiences, and seeing new places.
This year, one traveler hopped a plane to Paris, France to participate in the World to Explore program. Kathryn said, “The trip to Paris was even better than I imagined it would be! I had an absolutely amazing time on my trip and learned so much about the history and culture of Paris, France and made some amazing friends that I know I will keep in touch with. I will definitely go back and visit Paris again and I am so thankful for this opportunity that Girl Scouts has provided me with- especially all of the memories that I will carry with me for a lifetime.”
The two other travelers spent a month volunteering as counselors at the Juliette Low Camp, a summer program for girls with physical disabilities in Missouri. Kaitlin said, “My destination was AMAZING! My host family was amazing and so were the girls at camp!” and Lindsay said, “They [the campers] were always running up to us with hugs, and playing with us all the time. They were so sweet and so enjoyable to be around. I’ve learned so much from this experience and I am so grateful to have had this opportunity”.
