The Greene County Youth project, the Village of Hunter and the Hunter-Tannersville Girl Scout troops have started a “Highway to Health” as part of a Girl Scouts community service project.
The series is a free event to promote family health and will run for four weeks starting tonight and continuing on July 5, 12 and 19.
Registration begins at 5 p.m. and there will be a one-mile race starting at 5:30 followed by 50-, 100-, 200-, 400- and 800-meter races. Signs have been placed around Dolan’s Lake in Hunter denoting different distances for walkers and runners.
Participants may sign up for one or all events. Ribbons will be awarded to all finishers and trophies for top runners of each event. Those that run all the distances in one night will receive an “Ultimate Runner” T-shirt, while supplies last.
